Fly Through Airport Security Lines
Nothing kills the fun of travel faster than waiting for hours in backed-up security lines. A new program called Fly Clear lets you register in advance and use the no-wait Clear lane at a growing number of airports around the country. For $99/year, Fly Clear will register you with a retinal scan, fingerprint, and ID, and issue a Fly Clear card for participating airports. You step up to the Clear Lane, insert your card, press your finger to the scanner, and proceed through the metal detector without waiting. In most cases, it will not be necessary to remove your shoes as the Clear lanes use an advanced shoe scanner technology. Author Timothy Ferris (The Four-Hour Workweek) says Clear enables him to get through the airport 95% faster than before (a significant perk for frequent travelers). Participating airports include Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Little Rock, JFK, Newark, Orlando, Reno/Tahoe, San Jose, and Westchester County, with more rolling out in the coming year.

Due to all these hassles in airports, people have stop taking domestic flights and prefer short road trips. Your once checked at check in, then while entering the terminal reception area and then again while entering the plane. It can be annoying but I think this fast registration using biometric technology is a good solution, I think biometric technology is cool and not easy to cheat such a system. My grandfather works for M2SYS which also produces fingerprint technology and he taught me a lot about biometric technology and how these are the technology of the next generation and provide added security.
I recently joined Clear Pass and was a bit hesitant at first because I thought it might not save time and just cost extra money. About 3 months into my membership I finally got to use it and I have to say I was well impressed. The people working the clear pass area were more polite than anywhere else -- they actually took my bag from me and carried it! Also, there was no line at all and I was whisked through security using the clear lane. It was a great experience and I repeated it several times since, saving over an hour most times when the airports are crowded. If you travel a few times a year it is a good investment. I would rather whisk through the security area and sit at the gate comfortably! I am a convert to Clear Pass. If you decide to sign up at the official www.flyclear.com site -- use this referral code: SCA20888 and you and I will both get a FREE month added to our memberships.
