How to Make a Better World
There's a new and updated version of The Better World Handbook, a great little book of "small changes that make a big difference." The handbook discusses some thought theory (the cycle of cynicisms and hope, ten thought traps, etc.) lays out the seven foundations of a better world (economic fairness, social justice, comprehensive peace, etc.), and also features an extensive list of simple things anyone can do to make a difference. Here are the Top 10:
- Buy a low emission, fuel-efficient car
- Limit your work time
- Buy less stuff
- Buy products from socially responsible companies
- Make time for loved ones
- Eat less meat
- Open an account at a socially responsible bank
- Conserve energy and water
- Watch less TV
- Join an organization you care about
Check out the Better World Handbook website for additional resources like a better world shopping guide and a listing of gas stations ranked by their environmental impact.
