How to Make a Better World

There's a new and updated version of The Better World Handbook, a great little book of "small changes that make a big difference." The handbook discusses some thought theory (the cycle of cynicisms and hope, ten thought traps, etc.) lays out the seven foundations of a better world (economic fairness, social justice, comprehensive peace, etc.), and also features an extensive list of simple things anyone can do to make a difference. Here are the Top 10:
  1. Buy a low emission, fuel-efficient car
  2. Limit your work time
  3. Buy less stuff
  4. Buy products from socially responsible companies
  5. Make time for loved ones
  6. Eat less meat
  7. Open an account at a socially responsible bank
  8. Conserve energy and water
  9. Watch less TV
  10. Join an organization you care about
Check out the Better World Handbook website for additional resources like a better world shopping guide and a listing of gas stations ranked by their environmental impact.
